Taping

Taping is a therapeutic application of a thin, stretchy tape that can benefit a wide variety of injuries, dysfunction an inflammatory conditions.  The tape is very similar to skin in it’s elasticity and as a result, doesn’t bind or restrict movement.  In fact, it’s being used in so many ways because it can drastically improve movement, performance and pain.  It’s important to remember the body is a system of systems that ultimately makeup the whole.  Taping can have positive effects on the muscular system, circulatory system, lymphatic system, nervous system, etc.  This allows long term relevance by influencing things on a global level that allow changes to occur in the brain.

Benefits:

  • Pain Relief

          1) Physical- the tape lifts the skin alleviating pressure on pain receptors to deliver immediate and lasting relief.

          2) Neurological- chronic pain can be improved by offering sensory stimulation to other nerve fibers.  In such instances, tape can be effective for pain after an injury has healed or when pain is beyond the severity of the injury.

  • Swelling Reduction

The tape lifts the skin offering negative pressure allowing the lymphatic system to drain swelling and inflammatory substances away from the problem site.

  • Lymphedema (lymphatic obstruction)

The same lifting of the skin can relieve pressure on the lymphatic vessels helping clear blockages and fluid retention.

  • Reduced Muscle Fatigue

The tape can assist in the removal of lactic acid and other post-exercise byproducts that can lead to poor performance, muscle fatigue, cramps and delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).

  • Assists Weak or Injured Muscles

The tape can dynamically provide both physical and neurological support to weak or injured muscles assisting in daily life, high level sport or even low muscle tone.

  • Faster Return to Sport, Work or Play

By supporting weak or painful structures, the tape ultimately allows those injured to return to their life faster than without the dynamic support of the tape.

Other common issues assisted by tape:

  • Muscle Strains

  • Ligament Sprains

  • Bruising

  • Joint

  • Misalignment

  • Poor Posture

  • Scapular Instability (shoulder blades)

  • Tendonitis

  • Tendonosis

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis

  • Psoriatic Arthritis

  • Growing Pains

  • Shin Splints

  • Post-Fracture Support

  • Plantar Fasciitis
